The CYGWIN tools are ports of the popular GNU development tools for Windows.
The file setup.exe program will start the installation of Cygwin when run. To run setup.exe, either double-click on the file in Windows Explorer or open Run on the Windows Start Menu and type in the location of the file, press OK and follow the instructions. For more information on installing and setting up CYGWIN refer to Installing the binary release section of the Users Guide. When the installation program starts, choose "Install from Local Directory" and when asked direct the installation program to the directory "lastest.release" inside of the cygwin directory.
Please Note: that, by default, setup.exe only installs the base cygwin distribution, it does not install everything. When running setup.exe, clicking on categories and packages in the package installation screen will provide you with the ability to control what is installed or updated. For instance, clicking on the "Default" field next to the "All" category will provide you with the opportunity to install every Cygwin package on the cdrom. Be advised that this will install hundreds of megabytes to your computer. The best plan is probably to click on individual categories and install either entire categories or packages from the categories themselves.
